Funded in Japan and with a student body made up largely of international high school students, Auckland International College wanted to give remote parents the knowledge that their kids were in a secure environment, and the ability to check in on their learning and well-being.
With a focus on providing a modern, technologically advanced learning environment to support student aspirations, the college installed video cameras in each classroom for the main purpose of recording lessons.
Company-X designed and built a web-based system to connect to the web cameras. It integrates with the timetables and other data in the existing student management system. This enables overseas parents to log in over the web and find out what class their son or daughter is in at any time. It can connect the parent to the feed from that classroom’s web camera.
Parents also have access to their child’s academic records, and can chat online with their teachers.
“Company-X listened, really understood our new requirements and the technological arena, and redeveloped the software application and the user interface to integrate seamlessly with the student management system upgrade,” Julian said.
