Forget clumsy web portals, a Hamilton company has built a streamlined mobile app designed to make managing and booking fleet vehicles quick and easy.

The nightmare of managing fleets of vehicles has been transformed into a dream.

FleetApp, which aims to put efficient vehicle fleet management at the fingertips of those who install it on their smartphone, was the brainchild of founder Stacey Millard. She has many years’ experience managing vehicle fleets and chose Hamilton-based software development Company-X to build her dream.

“On the frontline of our occupations as first responder emergency services we were both experiencing similar problems, which prompted us to look into the world of fleet management and how current systems were solving what seemed to be widespread issues,” Millard said.

“We were quick to identify a factor with all of these systems. They were all web-based solutions.

"With Stacey's basic technical knowledge and first-hand experience, we were able to design a system on paper which looked pretty good in theory, but we knew the big test would be whether in practical and technological terms it would work.”

Millard said it was a major mission finding the right software developer to take the system from idea to reality.

“Fortunate enough for us we found Company-X who had the experience and know-how to help make FleetApp a premium product.”

One of the key features of the app is the vehicle booking system, designed to make booking a vehicle a quick and easy task as opposed to the long, complicated, process that web-based systems are renowned for.

“Cost savings, compliance, real-time communication and affordability are some of the other attractions in the system.”

Millard's brief to Company-X was that she wanted to do away with the maze-like web-based systems and replace them with a pleasant app-based experience for booking a vehicle from designated pools.

They involved Company-X in the project at a pivotal moment – a point where they knew they needed to evaluate where they were at and to make important decisions about the direction they would take FleetApp.

After some discussion with Company-X director David Hallett and a senior developer Millard decided to conduct a review to give us a baseline of where to start resolving some of the key issues, she said.

“Together we were able to target some key areas and develop some strategies to move forward. As a result of this collaborative approach, FleetApp has entered the Fleet Management market as a real contender by offering a mobile-first solution, with a system that is of high quality, unique and advanced yet simple.”

Company-X didn’t disappoint when it came to delivery.

“The process in dealing with Company-X was very professional and something that we would expect of a company that is reputable in both the corporate and software spaces,” Millard said.

“We would certainly recommend Company-X to anyone looking for software solutions.”
