Big and small businesses are benefiting from Company-X’s expertise.

From multinationals to one-man bands, Hamilton software specialists David Hallett and Jeremy Hughes have delivered the X-factor to them all.

Company-X's capable team at Wintec House, have impressed everyone from multinational networking equipment maker Cisco Systems Inc to Suburban Pursuit and Navigation Quest (SPANQ) app creator Conan Magill.

In Cisco’s case, they were provided with a Company-X project manager, business analysts, technical programmers, a graphical designer and user experience designers who designed and developed highly specialized software solutions for the multinational that could be scaled across the organization of tens of thousands of staff.

Cisco project manager Ashela Webb raved about Company-X. “Many resourcing firms are stretched for skilled resources that can think at a business value level. David and Jeremy have an amazing ability to attract and retain talent that is both skilled and business savvy.”

In Magill's case, he had already spent money with another software development company in Vietnam to deliver a bells and whistles app, but it was up to Company-X to improve it for the market.

Magill, director of Auckland based Little Wolfhound Ltd, found Company-X after he was lost working with Vietnamese developers.

Company -X software architect Rob Scovell worked with Magill for 10 months to build the Apple and Android apps that utilized Google Maps. It enables users to run their own Amazing Race style game by sending players from one point to several others. They check-in at each destination as they go using their mobile device’s built-in GPS or camera.

“Company-X did such a great job on SPANQ that I wish I had come to them from the outset,” Magill said.

Concentus founding director Linda Wright needed expertise for an in-house project and Company-X’s staff had the X-factor.

“I went to Company-X directors David Hallett and Jeremy Hughes because I knew that they were across the most current stuff,” Wright said. “I got exactly what I wanted, for the price I was expecting to pay. There was no gilding and they didn’t try to upsell me. I got what I wanted.”

Tractor Pull New Zealand, which runs tractor racing events all over the country, turned to Company-X for an event management system. Tractor Pull NZ chairman Vaughan Coy came away feeling more confident.

“We have an application that is robust and feature-rich, yet retains the critical ease of use.”

Alan Eddy from Freedom Software, Hamilton makers of FreeDAM Funeral Management Software, had Company-X develop a mobile app, and integration middleware, that integrated into its existing funeral management software. “I had been looking for people to build an app for a while and had basically given up looking,” Eddy said.

“Everyone wants an app but not everyone can build an app well.”

Brett Watene of vehicle fleet management app FleetApp had a similar experience.

“Fortunate enough for us we found Company-X who had the experience and knowhow to help make FleetApp a premium product. The process in dealing with Company-X was very professional and something that we would expect of a company that is reputable in both the corporate and software spaces,” Watene said. “We would certainly recommend Company-X to anyone looking for software solutions.”

Hallett and Hughes founded Company-X in 2012.

The company specializes in innovative software integration, cutting-edge software solutions, and also provides skilled people to resource the in-house software projects of clients.

Both are also directors of E9 Limited, a creative design business which creates cutting-edge custom websites, stunning graphic designs and branding, and offers print broking services.

Hughes was, this month, a finalist in the excellence in public sector IT category of the 2016 New Zealand Excellence in IT Awards.
