Auckland International College CASE STUDY: Parent Portal

Auckland International College asked Company-X to build a parent portal primarily for the use of overseas parents.

Auckland International College in Blockhouse Bay is New Zealand’s only school exclusively dedicated to providing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. It is an independent day and boarding school offering a specialized three-year senior secondary school education.

Auckland International College wanted to give overseas parents the knowledge that their children were in a secure environment as well as the ability to check in on their children’s learning and wellbeing.

With a focus on providing a modern, technologically advanced learning environment to support student aspirations, Auckland International College installed video cameras in each classroom for the main purpose of recording lesson content.

Company-X built a web-based system to connect to web cameras via video streaming, integrated with the timetables and data in the existing student management system.

Parents of Auckland International College students could log in over the web with a unique ID and password and see their child’s timetable, discover what class they were in at that moment, and connect to the classroom’s web camera feed. From there parents could access their child's academic records, and chat online with their teachers.
